Book Writing Boot Camp: Lubbock Summer Camp for Kids and Teens

Do you dream of being an author someday?

Don’t wait. Your dream can come true today!

Chaplain Publishing’s Summer Book Writing Boot Camp is 8 sessions of pure book writing fun! Younger recruits will earn badges as they complete activities in each of the 8 sessions: genre, hero, villain, conflict, setting, plot, analysis, and chapter lists.  They will:

  • Invent a hero and villain
  • Identify a crazy conflict
  • Develop a wacky plot line
  • Advise fellow recruits on their book
  • Publish their own book

Teenage recruits can either bring a book they have started writing or create a brand new one during camp. They will learn how to:

  • Create interesting and complex characters
  • Pace their story so readers keep turning pages
  • Weave subplots into the main story line
  • Rewrite based on feedback from readers
  • Navigate the waters of the publishing world

All recruits will spend two hours a day for 8 days planning and writing their very own book! At the end of camp recruits will get to read their book (or excerpts of it) to an audience. Recruits can work with a coauthor or illustrator or write alone. They will get help along the way to make their story the best it can possibly be.

Boot camp dates and times are July 14-17 and 21-24 from 10:00am-12:00pm at 3104 County Road 7520.

Boot camp recruits should wear comfy clothes and bring their creativity. All other supplies will be provided including water bottles. Please e-mail christi@chaplainpublishing.com if you have any other questions.

To ensure personalized instruction, there are a limited number of spaces available, so reserve your spot TODAY by signing up below. Make Chaplain Publishing’s Book Writing/Illustrating Boot Camp the Lubbock summer camp for you!

  1. As long as they have completed first grade, they can come. I will be splitting the kids up by age so they will be working with kids around their age. (I will also probably have some older kids as helpers for the younger kids to help them get their thoughts on paper more quickly than they can write)
