Teen Writers Needed

Do you have a story idea floating around in your head?

Chaplain Publishing is hosting a summer camp for teens who are interested in writing (and possibly publishing) a book.

There will be a total of 8 sessions (some in person and some online) during July and August.

You will learn how to…

  • Create interesting and complex characters
  • Pace your story so readers keep turning pages
  • Weave subplots into your main story line
  • Rewrite based on feedback from readers

Book Writer’s Boot Camp for Teens will be held at Southcrest Baptist Church (3801 S. Loop 289) from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16. Other sessions will be scheduled on that date.

To ensure personalized instruction, there are a limited number of spaces available, so reserve your spot TODAY!

Price: $50 per teen for the course

Book Writer’s Boot Camp for teens is 8 sessions of pure book writing fun! Recruits will complete skill-building activities in each of the 8 sessions: genre, hero, villain, conflict, setting, plot, analysis, and chapter lists. They will emerge from this course with all the ingredients needed for their very own book. Recruits can be girls or boys who have completed grades 6-12.

Along the way they will learn grammar rules, practice editing, brainstorm with other recruits, and most of all, laugh. Participating in this course will allow recruits to practice important reading and writing skills needed for state tests. Best of all, recruits will develop a love of writing.

Boot camp recruits should wear comfy clothes and bring their creativity. All other supplies will be provided including water bottles. Please e-mail christi@chaplainpublishing.com if you have any other questions.
