Chaplain Publishing’s Book Writing Summer Camp for Teens is open to all students who have completed grades 6-12. If you love to read and write fiction, this is the camp for you!
Book Writing Boot Camp consists of 5 sessions spread throughout the summer with writing modules for you to complete between sessions to keep you on track to finish your book by the end of the summer.
You will learn how to…
- Create interesting and complex characters
- Pace your story so readers keep turning pages
- Weave subplots into the main story line
- Rewrite based on feedback from readers
- Navigate the waters of the publishing world
If you have already started writing a book, that is fabulous! Please bring it.
If you don’t have a book started yet, it’s no big deal. Just start writing down possible ideas. You will have all summer to work on it.
At the end of camp you will get to read an excerpt of your book to an audience. This is the part of camp authors love most. Writing is fun, but there is something extra special about sharing characters and storylines that came from your own imagination with others.
You should wear comfy clothes to camp and bring your creativity. If you prefer to work on a laptop you are welcome to bring it, but good old-fashioned pen and paper is fine too. The important thing is to bring a great attitude.
