Thirteen-year-old Jimmy Newle loves two things; bugles and his country. These two loves combine when Jimmy signs up to be a bugle boy for the United States Army. No longer playing soldier in his backyard with friends, Jimmy is soon thrust into a very dangerous and bloody war between the North and the South. But Jimmy is brave and volunteers for many hazardous missions. Will this bugle boy survive the rigors of army life and the dangers of war?
