Book Illustrating Boot Camp: Lubbock Summer Camp for Kids and Teens

Do you dream of being an illustrator someday?

Don’t wait. Your dream can come true today!

Book Illustrating Boot Camp is 8 sessions of pure book illustrating fun! Younger recruits will earn badges as they work with an author to illustrate a children’s book.  They will:

  • Design a hero and villain
  • Draw a crazy conflict
  • Illustrate a wacky plot line
  • Advise fellow recruits on their book
  • Publish their own book

Teenage recruits will choose a book at camp to illustrate. They will get to:

  • Design images that capture the essence of complex characters
  • Learn which images will enhance the main story line
  • Revise drawings based on author feedback
  • Create compelling book covers
  • Navigate the waters of the publishing world

All recruits will spend two hours a day for 8 days planning and illustrating their very own book! At the end of camp recruits will get to display and explain their images (or excerpts of them) to an audience. They will get help along the way to make their images the best they can possibly be.

Boot camp dates and times are July 14-17 and 21-24 from 10:00am-12:00pm at 3104 County Road 7520.

Boot camp recruits should wear comfy clothes and bring their creativity. All other supplies will be provided including water bottles.
